Joel V Sebastian is a makeup artist based in Los Angeles. With a staggering two decades of experience in the industry, he has been working with models, celebrities, and esteemed clients across the globe. He loves meeting people from different parts of the world, which gives him endless inspiration. My insatiable wanderlust drove me to traverse the world for my craft, and I cherished the unwavering support of my loyal clientele. He works for prestigious magazines and travels to cities like Los Angeles, New York, Mexico City, Miami, Brazil, Paris, and the Philippines. He recently showcased his talent at the Versace fall/winter 23 show in West Hollywood. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for him in the world of makeup artistry.

How do you define a guru?

A guru is a knowledgeable and influential figure who provides guidance and inspiration to others, with the goal of making the world a better place to live in.

What does a normal work day look like for you, starting from the moment you wake up

I start my day by checking my agenda for the     rest of the day weather if it’s a makeup job , meeting or travels.

I start my day by checking my work agenda & will plan how to have a good work flow for the rest of the day.

Morning

What time do you wake up? 

Depends on what time i’m needed at work, but I often wake up at 7 AM.

What do you have for breakfast?

I just usually  have a shake for breakfast.

Do you work out? 

Yes, I love walking & doing zumba fitness.

Do you have a special routine to get you in the zone? Meditation type maybe?

I just need 6-8 hours of sleep to get in my zone.

What time do you get to work?

My work schedule is very erratic, it depends on the call time. 

Noon

What do you have for Lunch? Do you even eat lunch?

I love having lunch if I have the time .. but I pretty much eat anything that’s really good.

Are working lunches something that works for you?

I love working lunches especially if you want the job to be done sooner.

How much time do you take for yourself during lunch?

I can do a quick lunch (10-15 mins) or I can take my time & enjoy a full lunch for an hour.

Afternoon

How much work are you hoping to achieve in your working hours?

I have to finish the job by the end of the day & my clients need to be 100% happy with my work ..

Do you take a break in between?

I love to take breaks if there’s time .. but work first is my priority.. I can take it easy once the job is done.

Evening

What does settling in look like for you?

Either I go home to eat & rest after a long day .. or I have to attend parties or functions that’s related to my work.

Do you turn off your phone when you’re getting emails from work?

My phone is always on because that’s where I get my gigs is through calls & texts . Every seconds & minutes is crucial because you lose a job if you’re not gonna respond at once . Time is GOLDEN .

What does a normal wind-down look like for you?

I just take it easy . I rest a lot, sleep, get massages, and get adjustments regularly in my down time.
