Amongst the many things Hollywood keeps mum about — women’s fertility is one of these prevalent issues. A topic that people don’t talk about enough. Jennifer Aniston led the way with her honest and intimate reveal wishing that someone had told her to freeze her eggs.
Egg freezing gives women choices and options that never existed before. An insurance policy of sorts. Women no longer have to jeopardize blossoming careers, resent their biological clocks, resign to unsuitable relationships, or feel definitively excluded from motherhood by underlying medical conditions. They can proceed with their lives in the current however they desire while knowing that the possibility of motherhood in the future is protected.
Dr Shahin Ghadir of the Southern California Reproductive Center is one of Hollywood’s most well-known fertility doctors. His career of over 25 years represents the intersection of groundbreaking medical technology with personalized care, and commitment to his patients sets him apart from others in the industry. Dr Ghadir and his team recognize how overwhelming this process can be. They aim to make it as comfortable and stress-free as possible. The office operates on a highly communicative, holistic level. There is always someone there to speak to, whether Ghadir or a team member, to reassure you on this journey, so you never feel alone. Nestled in the heart of Beverly Hills, a visit to the SCRC feels more like a spa trip than the doctor’s. You are sure to see a celeb nestled in the waiting room. It’s not hard to understand why Dr.Ghadir has accumulated such a star-studded clientele, including Jamie Chung, Lance Bass, and Caroline de Campos.
Eggs are harvested in a four-step process that takes around two weeks. The first step, ‘Testing and Optimization,’ is orientated around ensuring that the ensuing process will be safely and accurately tailored to the individual. It entails a comprehensive assessment of the patient’s medical history and diagnostic tests. The second stage, ‘Stimulation’ refers to the 10-14 day period where patients will self-inject hormones daily at home while visiting the office every few days for monitoring. Once Stimulation is complete, ‘Egg Retrieval’ is ready to happen. This is where the patient’s eggs are harvested through a 30-minute outpatient surgery conducted under mild anaesthesia. The last step, ’Cryopreservation’, occurs on the same day as the Egg Retrieval and consists of selecting those mature eggs to be frozen until they are used.
In just two weeks, patients can secure the ability to have children for years until they are ready and want to. Egg freezing is one of the most significant recent medical advancements to empower women. It enables a more mindful approach to reproduction that is not tarnished by anxieties, pressures, and uncertainties. It’s essential to invest in your future, and this is one of the finest examples of doing so. Dr Ghadir’s advice is to “avoid procrastinating and just do it” because this is about women “empowering their life and not being under the crunch of the ever-ticking clock”.
