There’s a new gold rush in the beauty industry. Salmon DNA, specifically the DNA extracted from salmon sperm, is the buzzy new ingredient making waves across Hollywood and the global skincare world. One of the trailblazers of this trend is Camilo Triana, founder of Cotrini Skincare.

Camilo Triana didn’t stumble into skincare—he sprinted into it with purpose. “I’ve always been a huge fan of skincare, esthetics, and plastics,” he shares. Before Cotrini, Triana built an oral care company, a venture that sharpened his instincts for thriving in saturated wellness markets. But it was during the pandemic that Triana had his lightbulb moment.
“I actually ended up getting that salmon sperm facial done on me,” he recalls. “It was just remarkable because it completely changed my skin.” That single treatment catalyzed a two-year journey through South Korea, formulation labs, and clinical trials that would lead to Cotrini’s hero product: The Ultra Hydrating Night Cream.

The science behind salmon sperm in skincare is compelling. In South Korea, a country known for being years ahead in skincare innovation, salmon DNA has been used in injectables called “skin boosters” for over a decade. These multi-injection facials, similar in procedure to Botox, deliver intense hydration, healing, and collagen production.
“They found that injecting it in patients with bed sores healed tissue rapidly,” Triana explains. “But they also saw that it was exploding with collagen and hydration.” Once only available through injectables, Triana saw the opportunity to bring this cutting-edge ingredient to topical skincare.

“I wanted to take these innovations… and introduce them into skincare topically, and then do clinical studies to prove that they are really effective.” And prove it they did.
Cotrini’s Ultra Hydrating Night Cream is backed by results.“We got 65% improved hydration after 48 hours and 82% after day four,” Triana reports proudly. “Some people notice results overnight, depending on their skin type.”

Real people are raving about real transformations—from calming rosacea and acne to healing perioral dermatitis. One woman, Triana noted, wrote to say it helped her skin recover in just three days after months of battling inflammation with antibiotics.
The results are undeniable, and Hollywood is catching on. The Valley’s Janet Caperna is now a Cotrini brand ambassador. She used the cream after a dog bite tore her lip open.“They told her, ‘You’re going to have a scar,’” Triana recalls. “She started using our product, and it was literally making her scar disappear.”
Salmon DNA became a massive hit thanks to celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Aniston, who openly discussed their experiences with salmon sperm facials on shows like Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Hulu’s The Kardashians. Suddenly, A-listers and influencers were buzzing about this miracle ingredient. As the hype grew, Cotrini’s formulations became Hollywood’s go-to.

Scheana Shay of Vanderpump Rules joins Janet Caperna as the face of Cotrini’s latest billboard campaign. “We actually just shot for our billboard on Sunset,” Triana beams. “It features Scheana using our eye patches and Janet with our night cream.”
These are organic partnerships born from real experiences and results. “Scheana reached out to us because she loved the eye patches and was introduced to the product by Janet… It was amazing because of how organically it all happened.”
Beyond the night cream, Cotrini has expanded into innovative new formats like micro-dart eye patches—tiny dissolving patches infused with salmon DNA and healing botanicals.“They stay on all night,” Triana explains, “and they dissolve into your skin. Scheana loves them for her smile lines and under-eyes.”
But salmon DNA isn’t the only hero in Cotrini’s lineup. The formulations also include botanicals rooted in traditional Chinese medicine—anti-inflammatories that complement the DNA to soothe and restore the skin barrier.
“What sets us apart is that we’re not just here to make you look good. We’re here to help you take care of what you have,” says Triana. “Our goal is to help you cherish and heal your skin.”
With plans to expand into the medical space—including applications for burns and post-surgical healing—Cotrini is positioning itself at the intersection of skincare, wellness, and healthcare.
Triana believes in science-backed skincare. “We’re pioneering clinical studies,” he reveals. “We don’t want to be a one-trick pony. Some of these technologies that are not available here are incredible… they just need a vessel.” Every Cotrini formula undergoes clinical trials to ensure it delivers real, measurable results. He won’t bring anything to market unless it meets — and exceeds — the high-performance standards they set for efficacy and visible transformation.

The Cotrini founder also plans to launch the brand’s day cream and glabella, also known as the 11’s patches, in September of this year. “I’m thrilled about the launch of our new day cream,” says Triana. “It’s something so many have been asking for. Not only is it perfect for daytime hydration and protection, but it’s also designed for both the face and neck. We’re also introducing our latest micro-dart patches specifically for the 11’s—those stubborn frown lines between the brows. They use the same cutting-edge technology as our under-eye patches, now targeted for expression lines.”
Sometimes, the most powerful products come from the most unexpected places. Real skin issues deserve real solutions. When passion meets innovation, you don’t just get a skincare line; you get a movement.
“We are the leaders in this new trend of salmon DNA,” says Triana. “But more importantly, we’re helping people heal. That’s what keeps us going.”
From Seoul science labs to Sunset Boulevard, Cotrini Skincare is not only navigating new waters, they’re helming the ship.
And now, the skincare movement that started with science and surged through Hollywood is within reach.
