Chicago born, electric/acoustic Rock & Soul singer-songwriter, Jessica Betts, joins #30Voices30Days.
Betts began singing at an early age and at 16 years-old got signed to Stone Creek Records, “BOYZ 2 MEN”‘s label in 1998. She loves to write her own original music as well as soulful renditions of past and contemporary hits spanning multiple musical genres and artists from gospel, reggae, rock, pop and R&B.
Significantly, in 2005, Betts is became well known as the winner of the “Road to Stardom”, a reality television show where she beat out thousands of contestants and captured the hearts and admiration of judges such as Teena Marie, Dallas Austin, Madonna, Mona Scott-Young and Missy Elliot with her amazing voice.
Outside of her career Betts married the love of her life, Emmy Award Winning actress Niecy Nash, and the two released a stunning visual to “Catch Me”, which was the song that ultimately brought their hearts together. Since then, Betts’ music has made its way onto Good Morning America, and has been used in Claws on TNT, Comedy Central’s Reno 911!, and ABC’s Rookie Feds.

My passion is God, Love, my Wife, Music, Entertainment and being my true and authentic self.
When do you feel the most authentic?
I feel the most authentic when I’m sharing my gifts. When I’m with my wife loving her endlessly. When I look in the mirror and fall deeply in love with the reflection.
Why is it important for YOUR voice to be heard?
It is important for my voice to be heard because I am an igniter that sparks the influence of generations to come, to be a representation of what it looks like to be fully present and to love myself regardless of what anyone else thinks of me, and to be in love with who I am.
