Lauren Falcione – The Saucy Guru

by | Aug 12, 2024

In the bustling chaos of daily life, Lauren Falcione, a dedicated mother of two, found inspiration amidst the clamor of her kitchen. Balancing the demands of motherhood and the desire to create healthy, delicious meals quickly became a challenge that sparked an idea.

As she prepared meals for her family, Lauren pondered a simple yet transformative question: “How can I make healthy meals faster?” Drawing from her rich Italian heritage Lauren began experimenting with garden-fresh ingredients. The result was a homemade garlic seasoning, bottled with all the traditional flavors and love that defined her family’s cooking – adornably coined Giavanni’s Garden Garlic Seasoning. This seasoning was not just a product; it was a solution to the modern dilemma of balancing work, life, and nutrition.

The difficulty of turning her unique seasoning into a shelf- stable product led her to study food safety, earn her license from the Department Of Agriculture and work with a food scientist to help in bringing it to market. Lauren was not trained as a chef and did not inherit a legacy of generational recipes. Instead, she faced skepticism and countless setbacks.

Determined to succeed while maintaining the integrity of her flavors, her relentless pursuit of excellence paid off. The Blonde Italian was born. As a mom raising two daughters, Lauren understood the importance of fresh, natural ingredients. She envisioned a line of sauces that would make these ingredients readily available without the labor-intensive prep work.

Her creation, a seasoning made of fresh garlic, herbs, and vegetables in oil, was the cornerstone of what would become a full line of specialty sauces. Each product was crafted from scratch, reflecting her commitment to quality and taste. The Blonde Italian quickly became a household name, known throughout the community for its outstanding sauces and exceptional customer service. Lauren’s dedication to her craft and her customers did not go unnoticed.

She was regularly invited to cook live on Fox 8 News and Fox 8 New Day Cleveland, sharing her culinary creations and inspiring others with her story. Her journey also led her to become a finalist on ABC’s Shark Tank, a testament to her innovative spirit and entrepreneurial success.

What is your truth?

I’m an artist essentially. While I am a kind person, and handle my business with grace, there is a bit of savage intertwined. I truly love people and helping with cooking dilemmas, which is one of the reasons I started my business. I entered events to interact with the public and present my helpful product to them. It was not about the money in those early days.

Also, I was told it could not be done. The Department of Agriculture told me and multiple manufacturing facilities turned me down. I knew I could do it, so I found a way and launched this very unique garden garlic product Although I didn’t make it to Shark Tank TV, I made some other great accomplishments in the meantime. I solidified many grocery store accounts and online selling platform contracts, all on my own.

The largest retailer in the world -Walmart- was so impressed with my garden garlic seasoning, they asked me to private label it for all of their stores in the US.

What is your passion?

My passions include animals, my family and the relationships I continue to forge throughout my life. I am very passionate about my business, just talking about it is exhilarating for me. I love cooking on live TV and light up at the thought. My business has truly become my idea of fun these days. I absolutely love what I’ve created.

What makes you authentic?

People often ask if these are family recipes, but no, everything is 100% from my own creativity. I don’t use filler sauces. It’s all straightforward ingredients in recipes right from my head. I grew up in an Italian family and we had the big Sunday feasts with homemade wine, but I was more interested in eating the feast than watching my grandparents prepare it. So, no one really taught me how to cook—it’s something I developed on my own. When I later had my own family to cook for, it all came naturally. I am a self-taught cook and sauce maker.

When I earned my license from the Department of Agriculture, my inspector said. “I can see that you cook with love. I know you will be successful” Lauren Falcione’s journey with The Blonde Italian is a story of resilience, innovation, and the enduring love for family and tradition.

Her sauces are not just products; they are a testament to her hard work, creativity, and the belief that great meals bring people together. Through her business, Lauren continues to inspire and nourish her community, one jar of sauce at a time.
