One of the premiere hosts and Drag Queens in the industry, Mo Heart, joins #30Voices30Days.
Coming into the public eye through her numerous seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Heart is now the beloved host of The Walk In for Amazon Music, which has completed 3 seasons and just got renewed for seasons 4 and 5 and was just on the Grammy red carpet (RECAP HERE). Her show, The Walk In, is where Heart goes into the closets of some of Hollywood and Music’s biggest names and talks to them about some of the biggest outfits of their career. It’s featured Katy Perry, Lil Nas X, Kim Petras, Maren Morris, Mary J Blige, Avril Lavigne, Orville Peck, Steve Aoki, Jax and Sofia Carson among others.
Her following goes beyond the LGBTQ community as she’s beloved and endorsed by countless mainstream talent and was the first drag performer to perform at a mainstream festival – Firefly Music Festival as well as creator of Mo’s Rainbow Library, a collaboration with GLSEN to send queer books to libraries around the countries.
Heart is unique in the Drag Queen space as she can sing her original music, live. She also brings all the other skills a seasoned vet carries such as dancing, DJing, lip syncing and that superstar swagger.
When Heart joined the aforementioned inaugural initiative benefitting GLAAD, her effervescent and radiant personality shined when speaking with founder and publisher, Derek Warburton.
Who is the true you?
CRAZY SEXY, COOL!
I would say I’m a KIND but nice a person. ( learn the difference) lol. A creative, visionary, pioneer and innovator.
At times a tornado of creative chaos and confusion and emotions just trying to reach my dreams.
I am a LOVER , audacious , charismatic , effervescent, encouraging, loyal, dependable, a RIDE OR DIE individual, A True Gemini – I’m one that’s not to be toyed or played with I will embarrass you. I’m quiet and shy , extremely observant, like eagle or hawk. I’m very Tenderhearted, sensitive, loving person. At the same time, I’m probably the villain or a B!$&@ in someone’s story which I’m perfectly OK with because clearly you did something to bring that side out of me. However, responsible enough and man enough to own my faults and apologize when wrong
Forever growing changing to be my best self. Some might say a loner, other’s would say I the life of the party. I think some of my big personality is very much a chameleon/performance is a showing dance have a a brick wall to guard and sometimes keep people out of fear of not wanting to get hurt.
What is your passion?
Helping people see the Vision for life. Empowering and encouraging people to LIVE life not to just go through it, but to be excited about life , to be present and experience it each day. You only get one life. You can thrive in life. It’s your choice.
When do you feel the most authentic?
11pm -2am at night. When the creative juices start to flow! When it is quiet outside. That’s when I feel I come alive. When I am on set working or hosting an event on a microphone or in the recording studio, singing my life away. When I’m having a real conversation meaningful with The person that I just met. Helping take care of my mom. Making sure that Lady wants and lacks nothing! Having monumental moments with complete strangers when they start confirm something to me, they unknowingly know anything about that. I was praying asking God for clarity. To help me reach my audacious dreams.
Why is it important for YOUR voice to be heard?
Once again we were created in the image of God. He spoke so we speak . In the beginning, God spoke “he said let there be “and we saw the start of creation just bloom.
So The real question is what will happen when you open up your mouth and you begin to speak and declare. What power will be released in your life and in the lives of people around you. What changed could we see?
I’ll say it this way the stonewall riots would have not been the same if people did not speak up and out about the injustice that queer people have been enduring.
