The beauty industry rarely suffers from a shortage of new brands. What is far less common is a company that arrives with a genuinely focused concept. Novéra, which recently celebrated the opening of its first retail space in New York, has built its identity around a single product category: the face mist.

The idea came from a deeply personal place. Founder Zeeshan “Zee” Mohammed did not set out to launch another skincare company. He was trying to help his two young daughters, both of whom suffer from severe eczema.
“The idea started with a problem,” he told me during the launch. “We’ve been to so many dermatologists and skin specialists, and everyone told us one thing: make sure the skin is hydrated.”
The treatments they were prescribed left him dissatisfied, prompting him to study ingredient lists and work with chemists to develop an alternative. After two years of research and development, Novéra emerged—not as another cream or serum, but as what Mohammed describes as “a serum in a mist.”
