New York City Restaurant Week is here from now through February 12th. Food enthusiasts worldwide look forward to this momentous event that comes only twice a year. Restaurants from all over the city open their doors and menu to an eclectic array of delicious meals at an unseasonably great price. Most veterans and even some fortunate tourists will travel from their favorite place to their bucket-list restaurant to the most novice venues for a delectable experience. Carnegie Diner and Cafe’, a contemporary diner located diagonally across the street from the renowned Carnegie Hall, will wow you this restaurant season and beyond.
Dine or not to Dine
Carnegie Diner & Cafe competes with the best in flavor, atmosphere, and versatility. Guaranteed to put you in a food coma, this modern American diner features an impressive menu. From an extensive all-day breakfast to serving a wide selection of salads, burgers, entrees, steaks, fresh fish, plates of pasta, and desserts, they even have cocktails! “The Amazing” burger is just one example of the diner’s ingenuity and thoughtfulness that goes into their menu selection. Adorned with a Mac’ n’ cheese bun lies a tender and juicy burger layered with crispy bacon, melted cheddar cheese, and a fried egg. It looks almost too good to eat, but alas, you do, and the boldness of flavors comes rushing in. You simply think to yourself, AMAZING.

The restaurant also features a full page of plant-based options! Vegans, mark your calendars. They’re the first diner in America to serve a fully plant-based menu, which includes items such as the Souvlaki Platter, Yeero Platter, an Impossible Vegan Burger, and so much more. A pre-theater menu is also available for those theater devotee’s coming from Carnegie Hall or the neighborhood movie theater. Engulfed by creative synergies, showmanship knows no bounds regarding Carnegie Diner’s dessert selection. Skyscraper milkshakes with over-the-top artistry are embellished with decadent waffles, cupcakes, and some of your favorite candies.
Other desserts include a luscious 24-layer chocolate cake, pies, and oreo cookie cake milkshake to satisfy your sweet tooth.
The Mastermind
The restaurant’s Executive Chef and owner, Stathis Antonakopoulos, is no stranger to the hospitality industry. His roots span back to his native country Greece where his love for culinary started at 18 while working at his grandfather’s hotel and restaurant. Bringing culture and experience to the kitchen, Stathis became the Director of Operations at Kellari, which has locations in both Midtown West and Washington D.C. In 2012, he opened his restaurant, STIX, and the famous Carnegie Diner & Cafe.
In addition to Stathis’ position at Carnegie Diner & Cafe, his uncanny skill for simplicity and complexity makes all his undertakings worth seeking out.
He also serves as the CEO of Carnegie Hospitality — which owns and operates Pizza & Shakes and Carnegie Catering, along with three ghost kitchens for delivery, including Organic Burger House, NYC Pancake House, and NYC Pastrami House.

Paying homage to the history of Carnegie Hall, patrons walk into eye-catching wall decor enriched with images of classical musicians from all musical genres, friendly staff, and comfortable cushioned seating for both small and large groups. This diner is the pinnacle of the old school, hometown, comfort vibes with a modern edge. Carnegie Diner and Cafe has another location in Secaucus, New Jersey, and a new area coming to Midtown in April 2023, to 828 8th Avenue on the corner of 50th Street.
