Sponsored by New You Magazine, the Gala Event Honors LA’s Favorite Beauty Expert
It’s pleasing when an accomplished individual receives proper recognition. What’s even more gratifying, is when that person is not only a consummate and accomplished professional but a remarkable human being.
No one is more deserving of this year’s Beauty Guru of the Year Award by New You Magazine than the Hollywood Beauty Guru herself, Robyn Newmark. It’s not that she is a celebrity-loved aesthetic expert and formidable businesswoman that has a line of projects that show her passion for what she does. Robyn gives all she’s got and more to her work, clients, colleagues, and students while being committed to giving back to the beauty and business community that gave her a chance and direction when she needed guidance and encouragement.
Armed with a college degree in art and the free spirit of a rare character that is ready to burst out, Newmark took the beauty world by storm. It didn’t take long for Newmark to have a fully booked calendar with both client appointments and touring as an educator with major brands such as Redken. The question raised now for her is; What did the now nationally recognized beauty guru do while she was seemingly on top of the world? She leaves the industry. Not because she is a quitter. And not because she didn’t love it. It’s because Newmark refused to become complacent and felt compelled to expand her skill set to reach her ultimate goals – to be a true innovator and influence in the industry.
Newmark exchanged hats from a creative artist to an entrepreneur. She got her hands dirty, worked long hours, and embarked on a mental and spiritual journey to not allow fear or negative thoughts to interfere with her life goal – to be the best in her field. She consulted mentors and those with more experience in order to earn and grow from their knowledge and expertise. If she didn’t know, she asked. And she came to terms with the fact that you don’t need to know or do everything – that you can research what you wish to learn or hire people with the skill sets or talents you do not possess.
Newmark re-emerged into aesthetics with a new mindset and business acumen to equip her with what she needed to build a beauty empire and become the Hollywood Beauty Guru. With three med-spa locations, professional workshops and a prestigious award for her accomplishments, Newmark feels her greatest achievement is helping others. Newmark possesses a humility that is rare in the industry and never loses sight of those that mentored her on her journey giving back to the community is her greatest desire and reward.
“This industry has been so generous to me and given me the inspiration in life to be creative. I want to contribute back as an expert, not just to the public, but to educate and inspire. I couldn’t have gotten to where I am without people being extremely generous to me. I would like to give that back.” Robyn Newmark
In honour of Newmark’s request to share her expertise, here are her top tips to keep skin healthy, glowing, and ready to face the world with confidence.
• Use medical-grade skincare products. Newmark cannot emphasize this enough. She pleads with clients to take facial products seriously if they wish to maintain the effects of professional aesthetic treatments. Quality at-home skincare means fewer (and hopefully zero) emergency trips to your aesthetician or dermatologist and more time and funds for advanced anti-ageing in-office treatments.
• When you find a skincare practitioner you like, stay with that person. Don’t switch just because you found a better deal somewhere else. It’s paramount that your aesthetician or dermatologist understands your treatment goals and desired outcome. This is especially important with injectables and fillers. For instance, if you prefer a natural, non-enhanced look, it is essential your provider not only shares your aesthetic values but knows how to successfully achieve this outcome. If you skip from one practitioner to another, you can easily fall into the wrong hands and have an undesired outcome.
• Your health and safety are the top priority. Whether you’re getting tattoos, piercings, laser resurfacing, or cosmetic surgery, due your due diligence and research the provider and clinic. No bargain is worth the risk of a poor outcome, infection, or worse. Don’t skimp where it counts.
