The GURUS Fall 2026 Trend Report: The New Rules of Getting Dressed

by | Oct 19, 2026

From unapologetic glamour and modern tailoring to animal prints and unexpected styling, Nolé Marin, Fashion Director for Gurus Media, explores the thirteen movements defining Fall 2026.

Fashion is finding its personality again. After seasons of quiet luxury and understated dressing, Fall/Winter 2026 is embracing richer textures, stronger silhouettes, expressive prints, and a renewed sense of glamour. Yet the biggest shift isn’t necessarily about what we wear. It’s about how we wear it.

For Nolé Marin, Fashion Director for Gurus Media and GURUS Magazine, personal style remains at the center of the conversation.

Marin recently brought that perspective to FOX 5 New York’s Good Night New York, joining hosts Christal Young and Ryan Kristafer to explore the season’s standout trends.

The segment featured designs by Nicole Miller, Zang Toi, and Kenny Kas; it explored four standout trends: Animal Instinct, presented by Christiana DiNardo; Denim, modeled by Haile Helper; The New Romantic, showcased by Taylor Quinton; and Luxe Fabrics, presented by Lance Stefanakis.

While the television segment offered a closer look at these four movements, the broader Fall/Winter 2026 fashion landscape is filled with fresh interpretations of familiar wardrobe staples. From runway glamour to elevated sportswear, GURUS explores the 13 trends shaping the season.

1. Animal Instinct

Leopard, zebra, and other wildlife-inspired prints are commanding attention this Fall, appearing across statement coats, dresses, tailored separates, and accessories.

Featured on FOX 5 New York, Animal Instinct celebrates bold dressing without sacrificing sophistication. A dramatic animal-print coat or patterned statement piece can instantly transform a simple outfit.

The key is balance. Let one standout print lead while keeping the rest of the look considered.

2. Denim

Denim is breaking free from the idea that one silhouette should define the season.

Barrel-leg jeans, bootcut denim, skinny jeans, and relaxed fits are all finding their place in Fall wardrobes. As highlighted during Marin’s FOX 5 appearance, the focus is on proportion, styling, and finding what works for the individual.

A graphic tee layered beneath a cardigan, chunky statement necklaces, or a structured blazer paired with denim can give even the most familiar pair of jeans a completely new personality.

3. The New Romantic

Romance is returning with a more expressive attitude.

Ruffles, lace, oversized bows, flowing fabrics, and delicate floral details are being reimagined through dramatic proportions and unexpected combinations.

Another standout from the FOX 5 segment, The New Romantic embraces softness without losing strength. A romantic blouse with tailored trousers, lace layered beneath structured outerwear, or flowing dresses paired with bold accessories creates a look that feels feminine, confident, and modern.

4. Luxe Fabrics

Luxury is becoming increasingly tactile.

Velvet, plush knits, silk, jacquard, richly finished fabrics, and elevated tailoring are bringing depth and sophistication to Fall/Winter wardrobes.

Showcased during Marin’s FOX 5 fashion presentation, Luxe Fabrics demonstrates how material alone can transform a silhouette. Whether through a beautifully constructed velvet jacket, a silk ensemble, or richly textured tailoring, the emphasis is on clothing that feels as exceptional as it looks.

5. The Return of Glamour

Fashion wants drama again.

Velvet, sparkling embellishments, dramatic draping, metallic finishes, and evening-inspired details are finding their way into everyday dressing. Glamour is no longer reserved for formal occasions.

A statement embellished jacket, velvet blazer, or luxurious evening-inspired top paired with denim can bring a sense of occasion to even the simplest outfit.

6. Tailoring Breaks the Rules

The traditional suit is becoming less rigid and far more interesting.

Oversized blazers, relaxed wide-leg trousers, exaggerated shoulders, fluid suiting, and softly structured jackets are giving classic tailoring a contemporary edge.

Whether through a blazer worn with denim, tailored trousers paired with a sheer blouse, or relaxed suiting styled with unexpected accessories, tailoring now feels more like a personal choice than a uniform.

7. Texture Becomes the Statement

Sometimes the most interesting element of an outfit isn’t the color. It’s the surface.

Leather, jacquard, lace, embossed finishes, textured knitwear, and technical materials are adding visual dimension to familiar silhouettes.

Combining a leather jacket with soft knitwear, lace with structured tailoring, or velvet against sleek fabrics can elevate even monochromatic dressing, proving that understated color doesn’t have to mean understated style.

8. Sport Gets Dressed Up

Sportswear continues its evolution beyond casual dressing.

Technical jackets, oversized windbreakers, statement parkas, elevated bomber jackets, and athletic-inspired separates are being incorporated into more polished wardrobes.

A sporty jacket with tailored trousers, technical outerwear layered over refined knitwear, or athletic separates styled with luxury accessories creates unexpected combinations that feel contemporary and sophisticated.

9. Color Has Its Confidence Back

Fall’s traditional neutrals are making room for stronger color.

Saturated pinks, bold reds, rich burgundy, electric blues, and unexpected color combinations are bringing energy into seasonal wardrobes.

For those who prefer subtlety, a statement-colored coat, vibrant knitwear, or a sophisticated brown-and-burgundy combination can introduce color without overwhelming the look.

10. Prep 3.0

Classic collegiate style is receiving a modern makeover.

Striped knitwear, oversized cardigans, collared shirts, pleated skirts, tailored trousers, and varsity-inspired pieces are being reworked through exaggerated proportions and playful layering.

Think graphic tees beneath cardigans, relaxed knitwear with tailored bottoms, or preppy separates styled with chunky jewelry. It’s classic dressing with a less predictable attitude.

11. Going-Out Tops

Statement tops are reclaiming their place in evening wardrobes.

Leather shirts, dramatic blouses, sequined tops, lace details, richly patterned fabrics, and sculptural silhouettes offer an effortless way to dress up without committing to a completely formal ensemble.

Paired with classic denim, tailored trousers, or minimal accessories, one standout piece can carry an entire look.

12. Power Outerwear

This season, the coat is the statement.

Oversized coats, sculptural jackets, exaggerated puffers, dramatic shoulders, and richly textured outerwear are transforming practical layers into defining fashion pieces.

A statement wool coat, voluminous puffer, or boldly structured jacket can become the centerpiece of an outfit, allowing the remaining pieces to stay simple.

13. Alpine

Mountain-inspired fashion is moving beyond the slopes.

Chunky knitwear, insulated jackets, technical layers, oversized puffers, winter boots, and ski-inspired accessories are finding new relevance in everyday wardrobes.

Blending practicality with bold proportions, Alpine-inspired outerwear, heavy textured knits, and sporty winter layers bring warmth, utility, and a sense of adventure to Fall/Winter dressing.

The Biggest Trend Is Personality

Fall 2026 doesn’t offer one definitive way to dress, and that’s precisely what makes the season exciting.

Glamour can coexist with sportswear. Romance can meet structure. Tailoring can loosen up, while color, texture, and accessories bring individuality to familiar pieces.

Through his work as Fashion Director for Gurus Media and his recent appearance on FOX 5 New York, Nolé Marin is helping bring that conversation beyond the runway, connecting fashion’s biggest movements with the realities of getting dressed.

Because the most memorable looks aren’t necessarily the ones that follow every trend, they’re the ones that reflect the person wearing them.

Fall 2026 isn’t asking us to replace our wardrobes. It’s asking us to rediscover the pleasure of getting dressed.

And this season, the biggest trend is personality.
