There was a time when dressing well came with a rulebook. The right jacket. The proper shirt. A prescribed idea of polish. But style has never stood still, and neither has the man wearing it.
The modern gent is less interested in following a formula than understanding what makes it work. He knows the codes, but he isn’t confined by them. A shirt falls open. Tailoring loses some of its ceremony. Texture replaces excess. The familiar becomes interesting again simply by changing the way it is worn.
There is confidence in that kind of restraint. Not the confidence that asks to be noticed, but the kind that no longer needs permission.
