Alabama-born supermodel, TV personality and actress, Cynthia Bailey, rose from humble beginnings in Alabama, Bailey has been navigating the entertainment industry since she was 18 years old. She was discovered by the Wilhelmina modeling agency and broke barriers in the modeling industry strutting cat walks in Milan and Paris.
From her first job on the cover of Essence Magazine to joining Iman and the most important black models of our time on the cover of Vanity Fair, Cynthia has been front and center with her heart on her sleeve. After years of modeling she had some success in acting, such as her starring role in “Without You, I’m Nothing” with fellow #30voices30days cover star Sandra Bernhardt. Then in 2010, she was asked to join season three of the Real Housewives of Atlanta. Eleven drama-filled seasons later, Bailey gracefully walked away a household name & is gearing up to rejoin the cast this season.
Personally, her greatest accomplishment is her 23 year old daughter Noelle Forde Robinson. Cynthia credits her strong will and strong spiritual background for her success. She believes in hard work, ambition, love, and positive affirmation. Everyone has a destiny. With faith in yourself and faith in God you can accomplish anything. When you send that energy out to the universe it has to come back to you.
As a proud parent and an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, Bailey sits down with Gurus Magazine’s, Editor-and-Chief, Derek Warburton to talk her truth, passion and authenticity and why we must use our voice for good.
Who is the true you?
The true me is a very simple yet complex woman. I love and enjoy the simple things in life, and don’t require much to be happy. However, I never settle for less than I feel I deserve.
What is your passion?
My passion is LOVE. Loving my daughter, loving my family, loving my career, loving my life, and most importantly loving myself. Everything in my life has to come and live in a place of love.
When do you feel the most authentic?
I feel the most authentic all the time. I am very comfortable with not only who I am but also with the person that I am becoming. There is no peace greater than living in your truth.
Why is it important for YOUR voice to be heard?
It is important for MY voice to be heard because I want to empower, inspire and motivate people. Especially women. Supporting women and being supported by women is my happy place.
